Another Brunch Sketch
Thida and I were having brunch and I asked her what she would like me to draw.
Her reply was two large people in bed.
The Crazy Misadventures of Hobo Chicken boy.
Just click on the images if you would like to see a larger version.
I did a large painting of this guy for a Cultural Initiative show in Charlotte N.C..
That was a super fun show!!
Here is a horrible photo of the painting almost done.
Hobo chicken boy has been a charachter in my life for a long time. Here are the first drawings of him.

Future Class room desk idea.
Here is an idea I just came up with at lunch for a student desk with a built in Tablet. I'm not sure if it should be able to be taken out of the desk. So you could then take it home to do homework. If it did it would probably never be seen again. It would be able to interface with the large screen that the teacher would have up at the front of the room.
Anny ways just an idea.
any thoughts????

Art class for my Dad. (Part 2- "The River Ferry")
Here is the second drawing from the "Learn To Draw Book".
Because "Cup of Joe" is one of my favorite places to draw. I have been going back there to work on these pictures. While i was creating this drawing. An older gentleman that I am assuming has been a fan of some of my art in the past. A man i remember talking to many years ago. Walked over to me with a smile on his face. Just to say hi and see what cool new drawing i was coming up with. This is when the smile stopped. He looked at me. Then at the drawing. Then back to me. Then he looked me right in the eyes and said " Please tell me your NOT doing this." Then he turned to his friend and said " They have coffee here right?", Let's get some and go."
I just wanted you to know Dad I'm catching some flack for this.
But whatever Haters!!! I'm having fun drawing.

Art class for my Dad. (Part 1- "the Pumpkin")
O.k. The story is... roughly 18 years ago my Dad wanted me to draw all of the pictures from this Jon Gnagy "Learn to Draw" kit. Among many titles my Dad has acquired in his lifetime "Major" in the Airforce, Vietnam vet., mechanical draftsman, artist, singer, guitar player, composer of amazing car ride songs, and wizard of horrible puns. One of these titles was Industrial Arts teacher. My dad used Gnagy's book to help him teach in his class. He said it would really help to improve my art. But we could never figure out how to spell the artists name or what the book was titled. This made it very difficult for me to find the book. My Dad never forgot his request. He would ask me almost every time I saw him where his pictures were and if i had found the book yet. Well His awesome and super patient girlfriend Susan figured out how to spell the artists name. She found the kit and mailed it to me. Thank you Suzi!
Well it's 18 years late. But luckely it's never to late to practice drawing.
Here we go.
This ones for you Dad.
I hope I can do it justice.
Here is my first drawing "the Pumpkin" in all of the stages that are in the book plus the warm up routine.
P.S. after doing the first I realized I might need to do these a couple of times ... HA! Ha! Ha! YOINK!!!
Also I know i keep saying this, but you can click on the image to see a larger version.

Phone Background!
Here is a background I just made for my HTC hero phone. it's 640 x 480. It should be at least clxse in size for most smart phones. Use it if you want. Just click on it till its full size and save it to your computer or phone. It's a black and white copy of the mural design I did for the King's Barricade wall.

The Dog Park
Some drawings I did at the dog park. I spend a lot of time there with my dog Roxy. Coming to the conclusion that it would make a really cool funny British comedy. If it hasn't already. If i hasn't, I just copyrighted it. "The Dog Park" TM So don't bite my idea without a check in hand. Crap! I just looked it up and There was a romantic comedy by Bruce McCulloch from "The Kids in the Hall" titled Dog Park. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_Park_%28film%29 Oh well, I'm not going to stop drawing there.

PBR show tonight! pic Preview.
-
My idea behind this Image was a story I heard on the discovery Chanel. It was about this octopus that would climb out of its tank. Crawl all the way across the lab to eat the fish in another tank on the other side of the room.
Well in this case its a Cyclops Squid and it wanted a PBR.
This is a preview image for an awesome show tonight at Design Box. There will be PBR, Two Bands Live painting by Vic Knight and Greg Davis. It's going to be fun. Check out NewRaleigh.com for more info on the show.

Google Hamony.
I just did these drawings in three minutes using one of Google's experiments called "Harmony" it uses another Google experiment called "Canvas" and html5. It looks a lot like a great free vector drawing program I got awhile ago called "Livebrush Lite". Harmony has more of a hand drawn feel than the vector output of Livebrush Lite. I cant say which one is better they both have their cool points. Livebrush is an Adobe Air application and has a lot of built in customizable options that tweak and help you create your own brushes and filters. Harmony is a web browser based program that needs the latest versions of Java script. HMMMMM? maybe that's why I feel like i have been getting around three java script updates a day lately, thanks Google. You can also customize the brushes if you go in and know how to rewrite the code. If you create a cool one they might add it to the default set. It looks awesome and is tons of fun to play with and will make everyone think they can draw professional pictures. Wait a minute. I'm not sure if that's a good thing.... Remember when Photoshop came out and there were lens flares on everything.
if you wanna check em out.
