I have always loved the animation by Jeff Hale of Imagination Inc. called "The Yo-Yo Master & Lost Kid". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqPcQeMEnFc He also did the pinball countdown. "The Yo-Yo Master & Lost Kid" first aired on Sesame Street in 1969. Way back in the day when a lot of the art on Sesame Street was really weird. Well I was thinking about this earlier today and decided to see if I could draw the weird yo-yo guy from that animation. What do you think?

Open Figure Drawing at the RICA!

Here are some of the sketches I made at the Thursday night Open Figure Drawing at the RICA in Raleigh. I've gone for the past two weeks and I have to say it's pretty fun and super chill. No pressure or stress. Just paper, model, and people who love to draw. Anyone at any skill level is welcome.

The session starts off with some quick one minute poses to get the juices flowing. Then some five, ten, and twenty 20 minute poses.
I've needed to start drawing more lately. So I have really been appreciating this outlet. Plus since these sessions are so chill a lot of really talented professional artists come out. You never know who you might be sitting next to.

Do watch out for the Parking trolls!!!! The bar next door will tow you. There is a parking deck down the road a bit and there is some parking down the street. You can park in the train station or the union station parking lot. Just don't get caught and you didn't here it from me...

The classes are $10 for non-members $8 for members.

.
.
I know its not a sketch.... but.. Here is a little preview of the project Victor Knight, Matt Curran and Myself have been working on for the last couple of months. The 16'x8', 8'x'8, and 4'8' paintings we did are part of the North Carolina Museum of art's "City Block" show. This show is running along with the museums "30 Artists exhibit" opening on the same day.
Vic, Mat and I worked on two 114'x16' murals for the Museum in the past. But they were along the walk way into the museum. This time we actually made it through the door!!! Hi Mom !!!!... It's official we finally got something inside a Museum

DocOck Drawing.

Recently I have been inspired by Skottie Young and Scott Morse's blog site http://www.skottiescott.com/. They pick a character everyday and see what they can come up with. I have really enjoyed seeing the different takes on all of the characters. This Seemed really fun to me and a great way to inspire creativity with a hint of friendly competition. Who wants to play???
